Medgar Evers College CNA Program

Medgar Evers College offers a range of programs for individuals interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, including Pre-Certified Nursing Assisting (Pre-CNA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), and Patient Care Technician (PCT) with CNA.

The Pre-CNA program is designed for students who need to strengthen their basic skills before entering the CNA program. It provides an overview of essential CNA training elements with a focus on improving reading comprehension and writing skills, including medical terminology (21 hours, $225).

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program prepares students to work under the supervision of RNs or LPNs, providing assistance with daily living activities. This comprehensive program covers feeding, bathing, personal hygiene, exercise, infection prevention, and resident safety. Graduates are prepared for NYS certification (120 hours, $1320).

For those looking to become Patient Care Technicians, the program combines CNA training with Phlebotomy, EKG, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Job Search Strategies (JSS). It equips students with the skills needed to work in clinics, hospitals, wound care centers, or long-term care facilities. Successful completion can lead to earning the NHA credential (200 hours, $2610).

Medgar Evers College’s programs are accredited by the National Health Career Association (NHA) and have specific entry requirements, including a high school diploma or equivalent. Additional fees for textbooks, uniforms, and exams may apply.
